The ruins of Shuri Castle, a World Heritage site. The red-tiled streets surrounding the castle are also beautiful.
Seoden, which appears after passing through several castle gates, is the largest wooden structure in the Ryukyu Kingdom. *Scheduled to be restored in 2026
The unique architectural style and masonry techniques that combine Chinese and Japanese castle-building cultures are considered to be of high cultural and historical value, and the site has been registered as a World Heritage site. Other cultural assets are scattered throughout the park, including the Shureimon Gate, Sonohiyamugotake Stone Gate, and Enkakuji Temple Ruins.
A fire that broke out before dawn on October 31, 2019 destroyed nine buildings, including the main hall of Shuri Castle, a symbol of the Ryukyu Kingdom and the pride of the Okinawan people. Shuri Castle was destroyed by fire four times between its construction and the end of World War II, and has been restored each time with the strong will of the people. Currently, we are working on the "Show Reconstruction" project to open the reconstruction site and process to the public with the aim of restoring the main hall in 2026. Why don't you experience the ever-changing Shuri Castle?

Urasoe Castle Ruins, designated as a national historic site, was built in the 13th century and became a large castle around the 14th century, the base of the rulers of the time. It was the center of politics, culture, and diplomacy until the Ryukyu Kingdom moved its base to Shuri Castle. Located on a hill overlooking the city, the west coast ocean can be seen in the distance. It is one of the most important historical sites in the prefecture where visitors can experience the history of Okinawa.

For lunch, you can have food bought at the market and cooked at the second-floor cafeteria.
Okinawa has a unique food culture that differs from that of mainland Japan. Okinawa's vitality is supported by a rich variety of foods unique to the tropics, including traditional sun-drenched vegetables called "island vegetables," tropical fruits, brand-name pork and beef, and brightly colored seafood.
The Daiichi Makishi Public Market has been temporarily relocated to the "Temporary Market (former Nigiwai Plaza)" for reconstruction.
