Ruins of Shurijo Castle

A fire that broke out before dawn on October 31, 2019 destroyed nine buildings, including the main hall of Shuri Castle, a symbol of the Ryukyu Kingdom and the pride of the Okinawan people. Shuri Castle was destroyed by fire four times between its construction and the end of World War II, and has been restored each time with the strong will of the people. Currently, we are working on the "Show Reconstruction" project to open the reconstruction site and process to the public with the aim of restoring the main hall in 2026. Why don't you experience the ever-changing Shuri Castle?

Stone-paved road in Shuri Kinjo-machi

A major road built during the Ryukyu Kingdom era. At that time, it was a long road leading to Naha Port and the southern part of the main island, but most of it disappeared during the Battle of Okinawa. Today, only a 300-meter stretch of the road remains, but you can still enjoy the old-fashioned scenery of red-tiled houses in the vicinity.
