Makishi Public Market (temporary market)

Unique ingredients grown in subtropical Okinawa

Okinawa has a unique food culture that differs from that of mainland Japan. Okinawa's vitality is supported by a rich variety of foods unique to the tropics, including traditional sun-drenched vegetables called "island vegetables," tropical fruits, brand-name pork and beef, and brightly colored seafood.

Makishi Public Market (temporary market)

The Daiichi Makishi Public Market has been temporarily relocated to the "Temporary Market (former Nigiwai Plaza)" for reconstruction. The temporary market is still open as the kitchen of Okinawa with fresh meat, fish, dried foods, and pickles every day. The second floor is a cafeteria area with a wide variety of menu items, and fresh ingredients purchased on the first floor can be prepared and served.
